Robby on Rails: A tough decisionthoughts.sort_by{|t| t[:topic]}.collect tag:www.robbyonrails.com,2005:TypoTypo2006-09-05T22:12:49-04:00Robby Russellurn:uuid:8b95d9b6-44cb-4ff2-8862-69fbb36f9b8b2006-06-18T02:06:00-04:002006-09-05T22:12:49-04:00A tough decision
Due to some fairly complex personal issues that have surfaced in the past week or so, I finally decided that I needed to cut back on a few of my professional engagements. This morning I made the decision that I will not be able to speak at RailsConf. I’m still going and plan to have a blast but I haven’t had the mental capacity all week to finish preparing for the talk and it was causing me quite a bit of stress. We all have our limits and I decided to side with personal sanity. :-)

Chad said they’ll make it work out and I’ll be more than happy to talk about legacy integration with Ruby on Rails while at the conference.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I’m human and can’t work like a robot. ;-)

Due to some fairly complex personal issues that have surfaced in the past week or so, I finally decided that I needed to cut back on a few of my professional engagements. It’s always tough to recognize your limits, and the pell-mell gung ho attitude of hacker culture makes it hard to say no. But sometimes you have to, and it sounds like you made the right decision in the right way. Relax, have a good time on the train, and get started again when you’ve had some time to recharge. It’ll be great.
Aníbal Rojasurn:uuid:a5565415-7417-431e-8c1b-7dc624b690612006-06-18T07:06:15-04:002006-09-05T22:12:51-04:00Comment on A tough decision by Aníbal Rojas
Balancing work and personal time for people passionated with its work has always been difficult, I am sure you are winning a lot with this hard decistion. Best regards.
