The Argon Express: Whitefish, Montana
I was only able to catch a short conversation with Robby this morning as the train was preparing to depart Whitefish, Montana. They should be rolling along the southern edge of Glacier National Park soon. I didn’t get much of an update on what the guys have been up to on the train, but I will keep you posted as I get more information.
It’s been just about 16 hours since the bulk of the group left Portland. Be sure to check out our Argon Express photoset and the Argon Express group photo pool for hot rails on rails action.
We're moving...

For the next two days, I will have a guest blogger to post updates from the Argon Express. This guest blogger has been known to hang out in #planetargon
as allisbe and is the Creative Director at PLANET ARGON.
Some of the passengers should be getting into Portland this afternoon and we leave in less than 4 hours!
A tough decision

Due to some fairly complex personal issues that have surfaced in the past week or so, I finally decided that I needed to cut back on a few of my professional engagements. This morning I made the decision that I will not be able to speak at RailsConf. I’m still going and plan to have a blast but I haven’t had the mental capacity all week to finish preparing for the talk and it was causing me quite a bit of stress. We all have our limits and I decided to side with personal sanity. :-)
Chad said they’ll make it work out and I’ll be more than happy to talk about legacy integration with Ruby on Rails while at the conference.
Sometimes I have to remind myself that I’m human and can’t work like a robot. ;-)
All aboard the Argon Express in just three days

This should be pretty fun… and I’ll try to take a ton of photos and share any interesting stories from the trip.
I expect to do a lot of reading, writing in my personal journal, talking shop with many of these people, and enjoying the sights. :-)
Rolling up my sleeves

A former coworker and friend of mine, Al Hulaton, would wear these thin gloves that had some padding under the wrists. He said that he wore them because he would get pains in his wrists and hands from working on the computer so often. I always meant to try a pair and found myself looking at a pair online the other week. They’re called SotFlex Computer Gloves and run just $24.95/pair.
They are going to take some getting used to…
